About This Fundraiser
Nicole is a person in long term recovery from over 30 years of methamphetamine substance misuse, mental health disorders, childhood and relationship trauma. Prior to joining HardBeauty, Nicole worked as a surgical technologist assisting in procedures ranging from open heart surgeries to C-section deliveries. Nicole began her surgical employment in Las Vegas, NV and worked as a contracted traveler for operating rooms in Nevada, Arizona, Idaho and Colorado. She has over 20 years of experience working in the healthcare field and is an avid believer of peer support and healthcare coming together to support the communities we serve.
In 2022, Nicole transferred to the Birth Center where she found herself engaging with a demographic of patients in labor who were also suffering from substance use disorder. She experienced the frequency and impact of SUD in the delivery room. She watched newborn babies suffer from withdrawal and saw the fear behind a new mother’s eyes. This is where her journey as a recovery coach begins.
Nicole listed herself on LinkedIn in her search for opportunities for employment as a peer recovery coach specializing in Maternal Healthcare for those with SUD and was matched up with HardBeauty where the foundation for the maternal work Nicole will be engaged in is being set. As a peer recovery coach, Nicole will be working with this demographic that has been stigmatized and ignored for far too long.
Recently, Nicole has been actively working on getting connected with hospitals in the Emergency Room setting. She is hoping to have the chance to expand on supporting patients who are not comfortable opening up to hospital staff. Nicole knows that by supporting patients, she is also supporting the ER staff
