The Radical Recovery Bus

Touring with Mobilize Recovery was nothing short of radical! Being on that big bus with an incredible team of change-makers was an experience I’ll never forget. From city to city, we brought the message of hope, recovery, and advocacy everywhere we went. We laughed, learned, shared stories, and truly lived out what it means to be united for a cause bigger than ourselves.

Connecting with others who share that same fire for recovery—that’s my jam.

One of the most powerful things about Mobilize Recovery is the people. We met so many incredible humans from all over the country—people who are boots on the ground, fighting for recovery access, changing policy, and lifting others up. These are the voices that are shaping the future of recovery in America. Being part of something that brings together so many passionate individuals reminded me just how important it is to mobilize for recovery—because real change
happens when we come together, share our stories, and demand better for our communities.

Back home at McShin, we were proud to host a Mobilize Recovery event that celebrated the joy of recovery. We had live music by Whey Jennings, amazing speakers sharing hope and wisdom, tons of free resources for our community, and of course—delicious free food! It’s so important for people in recovery to see that life can be fun, meaningful, and connected. We don’t just survive in recovery—we thrive. Joy, laughter, dancing, and good food are all part of the healing process, and events like this show that fun in recovery is not just possible, it is necessary.

What made this event even more special was showing our McShin participants what advocacy looks like in action. They got to witness firsthand how their voices and stories can make a difference. Whether it was talking with someone from another state about a shared experience or watching a powerful speech. We want them to know that they are the movement—and that recovery is about stepping into purpose and using your voice to change the world.

Being unified in recovery means lifting each other up, celebrating one another’s wins, and standing strong in the face of stigma and discrimination. It’s about knowing we’re stronger together, that no one has to do this alone. Mobilize Recovery, and the event at McShin, reminded all of us that we’re part of something bigger—a radical, loving, powerful community that is changing the world one voice at a time. And honestly? That’s my jam.
