The event coincided with CSAR’s Family Alumni Weekend, drawing attendees of all ages and showcasing why Texas Tech’s Collegiate Recovery Program serves as a model for universities across the country. Guests had the chance to experience first-hand the strength of the Red Raider recovery community and the lasting impact of peer and family support.
A resource fair and speaking program set the tone for the day’s celebration. The program featured inspiring messages from:
- Carrie Bates, 3x Olympic Gold Medalist and keynote speaker
- Alex Shrode, Program Director for Eating Disorders, Addictive Disorders and Recovery Studies at Texas Tech CSAR
- Betsy and Zane, students in recovery who shared their lived experiences
- Randy Anderson, Minnesota Recovers
After the program, attendees gathered for a TTU vs. Utah football watch party, bringing school pride into the mix with a halftime performance by American Idol winner Noah Thompson.
Throughout the day, guests engaged with interactive exhibits, enjoyed sober, recovery-oriented fun, and accessed life-saving resources including overdose reversal agents.
The Texas Tech event captured the spirit of Recovery Month—showing that community, family, and school pride can come together to celebrate recovery and inspire hope for the future.
